During my recent book talk/signing at the Seneca Falls Historical Society in Seneca Falls, NY, I met a delightful, inspiring, and amazing woman–Ellie McIntryre, a volunteer at the SFHS and a runner who competes in 5K races. She started running at the age of 60 after she watched a man who was 75 run a race. “Well, I can do that,” she said to herself, and she has. Around her neck is the medal she won for the Beach to Bayou race in March, 2010. She is holding the medal for the 2011 Fourth of July Sodus Lighthouse 5K run. In September, Ellie turns 89.
