Back from Nova Scotia where I found two terrific landmarks to women: the poet Elizabeth Bishop and folk artists Maud Lewis. Added excitement of whale watching and seeing many humpback whales, including a 6-month old who “played” around the boat!! (On last year’s trip with Sophie, we didn’t see whales & I was very very queasy while Sophie frolicked in time with the ups & downs of the boat!) Then there were the amazing tidal differences close to 50 feet. Today I’m speaking to the Thomas Stanton Society. Their recent research revealed the fact that Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her husband Henry Brewster Stanton were fourth cousins once removed! Did they know that? Probably not. Neither did I when I wrote my book. There many wonderful things about being a writer, including always learning.
