Talking about Thanksgiving: The True Story

In my book Thanksgiving: The True Story I concluded that the antecedents for the Thanksgiving we celebrate today are two very old traditions: celebrating harvest festivals and proclaiming days of thanksgiving for special events and the activism of a determined women–Sarah Josepha Hale, editor of “Godey’s Lady’s Book” who waged a forty-year campaign to establish Thanksgiving as a national holiday.
