"Animating the blank pages . . ."
Celebrate March 8—International Women's Day!
Today I am exploring women's museums around the world. The map is from the website of the International Association of Women's Museums (IAWM). Map key is: Red—Physical Museums, Gold—Virtual Museums, Purple—Initiatives, Green—Organizations.
IAWM was founded in 2012 in Australia by members of the Network of Womens Museums that was established in 2008 in Merano, Italy. The Iranian Nobel Peace Prize Winner (2003) and official godmother of IAWM, Shirin Ebadi, spoke at the first congress, declaring: " There has to be a women's museum in every country of this world."

Click on "Women's Museums" to find a "List of Museums (2022)" and a "List of IAWM Members (2022)." Each list has links to women's museums in Africa, Asia Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America.
Under "Activities," I clicked on "Exhibitions" and discovered "Best Female Friends."
The stories of a pair or group of best friends are fabulous! I met fascinating women I knew nothing about and learned so much!!! Here is a link: https://iawm.international/project/best-female-friends/
I highly recommend watching an illuminating video Women and Gender: Animating the Blank Pages of History. I was educated and stimulated by the images and comments by curators from Germany, Argentina, Albania, Ireland, Egypt, and Korea.
