This marker notes the house where Daisy Lampkin, a prominent suffragist and civil rights activist, lived her productive life. Her obituary proclaimed that–“Mrs. Lampkin’s dynamic fund-raising and relentless zeal were outstanding and uplifting. She cannot be replaced. Fortunately, she can be emulated.” A politician said, “When she told me to shut up and sit down. I shut up and sat down.”
