Yesterday I visited the fabulous students in Marie Russell’s 4th grade class at PS 174. These are the youngsters who, as 3rd graders, critiqued Too Old for a Babysitter, which is now available in all eBook formats, with a shout out to the students and Marie. Our lively conversation ranged from writing to the deer who are eating my garden (and how I “talk” with the deer about what they can and can’t eat) to whether or not the kids on the cover of Babysitter look like girls or boys (as someone who raised her kids in the free-to-be-you-and-me 1970s I’m resistant to sex-role stereotyping).
