Penny, Linda and Jonathan with Sophie

Traditionally Sophie, her mother Katrin, and I have started the holiday celebration by going to a performance of “The Nutcracker” in New York City.  This year Katrin suggested we go to the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall.  Jonathan, Sophie’s daddy, and Linda came too.  Before the show, we gazed at the spectacular Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, although I was ambivalent that such a magnificent specimen was cut down. We wrapped up a conversation-filled lunch (Sophie is into making up riddles)by gobbling three shared desserts–key lime pie, cheesecake, and a warm brownie topped with chocolate & vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry. As for the show, we all agreed that it was “cheesy,” or “lackluster,” to quote Jonathan, but that was OK because we had a wonderful time together.
